Wi-fi connection not sustained

I have my first iPhone (5). It won't seem to maintain a wi-fi connection even when the signal is at maximum. One problem may be that there is another nearby wi-fi signal that interrupts my connection. How can I force my phone to "forget" that signal?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.2

Forget the connection by going to Settings>Wi-Fi>Blue arrow>Forget this Network.
