Apple TV Does not connect to Itunes, I have Home Sharing turned on,

I am installing Apple TV for the first time, I have Home Sharing turned on on both devices but they do not communicate. I have checked the spelling etc and they are both the same Apple id's. I have checked out the troubleshooting site but nothing seems to work, Help!!!
