lost space due to bootcamp

Recently i tried to partition a bootcamp drive on my mac with 45gb free space. As it was partitioning the disk the computer froze up so i held down the on/off button until the computer shutdown. When it came back on i saw i had 45gb of space missing and no bootcamp partition had occurred. please help me to recover this space

Will take a bit of black-magic juju to undo. First off, get a full and complete backup of the computer, cause if the juju fails, ALL WILL BE LOST on the drive.

Then get back and tell us what specific cat flavor you're running on the Mac.
