My macbook recently had to be restored from a time machine backup. Before the restore I noticed that my battery cycles were at 288 (mid 2010 macbook pro). After the restore I noticed that the battery cycles are at 245.
Is this normal that the battery cycles will decrease?
The file record was restored by an earlier file at which time it showed 245 cycles.
Thanks for replying Kappy. That explains it. It seems strange that the cycles of the battery would be stored in a file. I thought it would have been stored in firmware so that it doesn't give inaccurate readings after a restore.
Typically that and most other system data are stored in preference files. Firmware would not be practical for data that may be changing often.
