pages won't open on ipad 1
I am trying to access an excel file in my dropbox, but pages won't open on IPad 1. Any ideas? I shut it down, then turned back on. No difference.

You need Apple Numbers to open excel file not Apple Pages.

Pages doesn't handle Excel files. You would need Numbers to open such a file.
Oh that's right, it has been a while since I worked pages. It still doesn't open. It starts for maybe a second or two, then goes away.

I am having the same issue. Just updated pages/ numbers on iPad and both open for a second or two, then disappear.

Double tap Home button and delete Pages from multitask-bar.
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.
Try again with Pages.
If no joy, delete Pages and redownload again.

I deleted from multitask-bar and did reset. Still have the same issue.
If I delete the app and download again will I loose my data?

What data? You should always make backup see below.

With iPad connected and selected in iTunes, in Apps tab, check File Sharing section.

Pages now works. You do lose data. iCloud had not sucked up my most recent data and I lost it. Verify iCloud has all your data before you update anything.
