HELP! Godaddy Hosting Problem.

HEEEELP! I've been looking through all the internet for an answer and found a lot of similar problems..but I' m still not able to find my answer.

I'm having problems uploading my web page using transmit to Godaddy.

When I connect to my domain, Transmit right window is in my username folder. In the window I can see two folders, one the stats folder and another one I created.

When I try to do anything here, create a new folder, or drag and drop my index. html. I get an Access denied error.

If I try to delete the folder I created I also get an error:
Server said:
FolderA: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

(I've also tried using godaddy' s ftp client with the same results)

But, I can upload my folders an files inside this undeletable folder. I tried putting my web page inside this folder and I was able to open my page with... www.domain.com/folderA

Is this behavior normal??

If so, In which folder should my index.html be??

Thanks

If your having trouble using "Transmit" Try using Fetch. Its free at version tracker for 15 days or something.

It seems like you are having a connection problem, maybe your password and username are not correct. I would call Godaddy and get make sure you are using the right info.

Your index.html should be in your /html folder

I like using fetch becuase you just set up your connection to your FTP server and then drag and drop files in you /html folder.

Maybe using fetch might make it easier?

index.html should be in your lowest directory /

As for the other issues, it sounds like the permissions aren't set correctly. I doubt it is Transmit's problem. Don't use Fetch, Transmit is far better. And if your username/password were incorrect, you wouldn't even be able to connect so its definitely not that either. I'd try calling GoDaddy's 24/7 support line (480) 505-8877.

Good luck!

Thanks,

Its not a transmit problem. I have the same issues when using godaddy's ftp client.

I am able to edit and transfer files and folders to my account, the only problem is that I'm not able to do it to the root folder!

I deleted some files in that folder a couple of days ago. Is it possible I deleted something I shouldn' t ??

Godaddys support has already emailed me 3 times with wrong useless tips.

I' m sure I will find better help here!! User uploaded file

Thanks!

Same problem using fetch, Transmit and Godaddys FTP.

Fetch could not put " index.html" because the FTP server encontered an error accessing a file or folder. .....Server responded "index.html" Acces is denied

If I try to create a new folder "a" here: Fetch could not create the folder "a" because the FTP server sent an unexpected response...
Server responded "a" access is denied

But if I try putting the files or folders into one of the already existing folders (two folders exist here, one I created a week ago that can't be deleted and " Stats" ) everything works fine.

:os

Godaddys Support Keeps telling me to wait and wait. Everytime I change something I have to wait 48 hours just to find out NOTHING HAPPENS!

If I were you I would go back into Iweb and republish to your desktop and then
upload to transmit that is what I have been doing and no problems.

I had problems with Fetch as it just would not connect and the time would run out

Today I just used cyberduck and it was real mac friendly!

Unless your problem is your user name and password but if it were you would not be able to connect, could be where your publishing to,
Like I said no problems when I publish to my desktop.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help.

Just wanted to let you know that I had to cancel my account with GODADDY. After paying 12 months and waiting more than a week for costumer support to fix my problem i had to cancel the account.

I lost my 12 Months and had to pay again....

This time My hosting worked as supposed.

Godaddy has a terrible technical support...5 different guys answered my question. And they didn' t even check the older replies. So each one started from zero again!

I lost 12 months of hosting because of a technical problem! (I' m still trying for them to give me a credit)

Thanks for your time User uploaded file

I had much the same problem, until I got ahold of a super tech at GoDaddy....

Basically, Publish your site, to a folder, then it must be posted into GoDaddy in almost a piece by piece basis. What we had done on mine, was to clear out the whole thing, leaving these files: GD Form.PHP; Missing.html; PHP Uploads and Stats (which is a folder). Then, open the folder that was created in iWeb (Site), where there's html files and folders. I've found the best way to do this, is to load each one individually, via the FTP on GoDaddy. Haven't had a problem since....

Hope this helps....

Normally the best approach is to upload 2 items, the folder which has the same name as your site does inside iWeb, plus the index.html file that is published alongside it. If you do not upload the folder which contains all the individual mypage.html files, your RSS feed links will be broken and not work.
