How do I reset a disabled iPod Touch?

I forgot my password that I set up to access my iPod Touch and after several attempts to unlock it, it is now disabled. I connected it to my iTunes account but a message appears that says it cannot connect my iPod until I unlock it. How do I unlock it or reset it?
