Why is my laptop saying I have no wi-fi hardware installed?

Ive gone into my internet setting and it say my wi-fi is off. I try to click the option to have it turned on but it doesnt work. On my destop next to my wi-fi connection indicator it says "no wi-fi harware installed"

You don't say what version of OS X you are using. If Lion or above, re-boot while holding down Command + R. This is the Recovery Partition...bypasses the main operating...do you have WiFi now? If you do, you don't have a hardware issue. If you don't, most likely you have a hardware issue.


Also, does Bluetooth work? In many systems, Bluetooth & WiFi are on tyhe same card.
