Does pages have a template for a calendar? I am the editor of a church newsletter and I want to include a calendar of events.

No, but it is easy to set up using a Table.

Or a calendar template for Word could be used.
Such as these 2013 calendars.
I've just tested those Word calendars.
Because Word actually has a calendar format built-in, most of those templates will not open cleanly in Pages.
You can use some of the tabbed text, after you copy it out of the tables and reformat it into a new table in Pages but there will be extra steps involved.

All you have to do is print from the Calendar app. You can create a calendar just for your church events, and print just that or that plus other calendars (selectable on which one(s) when you print).
