Q: When booting my Imac there is "panic". Panic (cpu 0 caller 0xffffff800aa59e01): Unable to find driver for this platform:\"ACPI\"

It happens every two days or so.

Very annoying, considering is a new equipment with the latest OS.

After a disk (250GB Apple SSD) permission verification everything is ok, until the next two days.

Other symptoms The apple symbol in grey at start up, changes rapidly intermixing a file symbol and a question mark.

Help or suggestions.

    Back up all data.

     

    Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.

     

    Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.

     

    When the OS X Utilities screen appears, follow the prompts to reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.

    Post a kernel panic report. Should be in /Library/Logs/PanicReporter/. See

    Many thanks for your indications, Linc and Baltwo.

     

    However, I performed the Recovery with partial success, after 6 hours and two uneventful bootings, at the third day (kind of biblical), the panic returned like in a scary movie.

     

    This is the latest report, sent this morning to Apple.

    There are a few things you can try.

     

    Run the extended version of the Apple Hardware Test. You're looking for a memory fault. Usually the test won't find it.

     

    Disconnect the FireWire devices and test.

     

    Uninstall Toast.

     

    If none of that works, make a "Genius" appointment to have the machine tested.
