Audio books purchased from iTunes Store on iPhone not transferring to iTunes on Mac

I purchased some audiobooks recently from the iTunes store on my iPhone, I have attempted to transfer these back to two different macs (both authorized for my iTunes account and both running iTunes 11) - the audiobooks do not transfer to my computer (other media and apps do transfer correctly). There are no error messages, the audiobooks just don't show up when the transfer purchases process is complete.

Any suggestions?

An internet search does not find information on what you wish to do. All the info points to you using the browser on your Mac, surfing to the audible.com website, logging into your Audible account, going to your Audible library and downloading the content directly from Audible to your Mac. Once the file is downloaded to your Mac, drag & drop the file onto the iTunes app.

If you want to do it differently, there are some 3rd party apps that allow you to access the content on your iOS device and transfer it to your Mac.

These audio books were not purchased from audible they were purchased from the iTunes store on the iPhone. I don't even have an audible.com account (or at least I didn't - I tried creating one when attempting to fix this problem to see if that would help but it was just an empty account with of course no purchase history).

The actual audiobook purchases show up correctly in my iTunes store account history so I know I defintely bought them from Apple and not from anywhere else.

I am also having the same problem. I know with Music if you try to buy it a second time it will ask if you want to download it for free but I just tried to do that with an audiobook and it gave me this message. You have already purchased this item. Would you like to buy it again? f you buy it again, you may have duplicate items. If you can't find it in your iTunes library, make sure it's been downloaded by selecting Check For Available Downloads from the Store menu. I go to the store menu and it tells me All purchases have been downloded for this apple ID???

Makes no sense to me.

It's likely that audio books, which do not belong to Apple, are not part of the iTunes stores' redownload agreement for other content.

If the book is on your iOS device then you should connect the device to your computer, highlight the name of the device in the left column, right click the devices name and choose to transfer purchases. That should transfer the book to the computer's content libraries.
