Determining apps to sync...just quits

I have seen many discussions on this topic, but nothing is helping me.

If I plug in my iphone, iTunes recognizes it and begins to sync. It gets to step 5 of 7, determining apps to sync, then it just quits.

If I then click on 'sync' it gets to step 3 of 5 showing 'determining apps to sync' and then quits.

I am iOS 6.0.1 on iPhone 4.

I am iTunes 11.0.1.12

I am Windows 7 64 bit

I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes so many times I have lost count. It doesn't help and I'm hoping that is not a recommendation.

I have run through this many dozens of times - mostly the same result. Anything that isn't the same is even worse (such as iTunes doesn't even see my iPhone sometimes - VERY frustrating).

Probably related - since I allowed the iOS 6 upgrade, I lost my ringtone. It is still on my computer, it is not on my phone. I think it just didn't get that far, but that may be another issue. Until I can complete a sync, I am not bothering to pursue other problems.

I'm having the same problem too. Sync just stop after the "determining apps to sync" step.

At first I thought the problem is because of iTunes since I just updated it recently, but when I tried to sync my data with my old phone, everything still worked fine. So this might be a problem with the phone? I dont know, can someone please help!!!

Hi. Did you try to delete the apps that you stored on iTunes too? I'm not sure if it will work but the problem with "determining apps to sync" means that there's something wrong with all the apps either on the phone or on iTunes.

My suggestion is that try to delete all apps on your phone (you can download them again later on app store), and make a backup with the apps of your iTunes's folder, then delete all of them on iTunes, then try to sync the phone.

That's all I can think of. Hope it helps!

Hey guys, I found a solution. I had the same problem, the sync will say "Determining apps to sync" in step 4 - 7 then suddenly just quits. So I did some research, apparently a lot of people have this problem, but everyone were just trying on their own PC, so I decided to try on my other laptop. My iPod synced perfectly with the other laptop so I knew it was the PC that was the problem, not my iPod. So basically it's just iTunes. I followed these steps to completely remove and reinstall iTunes on my PC and Viola! It syncs perfectly again! 😀

Here's the link to the steps: http://www.imobie.com/support/completely-remove-and-reinstall-itunes.ht

Note: Before I did this, BeBuoi said to remove all the apps and resync, but that didn't work for me. So when I did all these steps, I had no apps in my iPod.

Goodluck!
