Created "aggregate device" (Audio-Midi-Setup.app) -> Audio Icon is disabled

Hi there,

i've got a question about creating an aggregate device using the Audio-Midi-Setup.app in the Programs/Utilities folder.

I used this instruction to set it up, so i could use two sound cards. I want to use 4 speakers simultaneously.

Everything works fine (sound is emitted on all speakers), except the Audio Icon in the menubar in top of the screen.

It is simple greyed-out. I cannot use it to setup the volume, i can only adjust it using the Audio-Midi-Setup App.

I made two screenshots, a picture is worth a thousand words, how i would say it.

Edit: Picture 1 is oversized and dont fits the preview, i have uploaded it here again.

I hope somebody has an advice for me.

Thanks in advance! 🙂

Found an alternate way, installed Soundflower, choosed the new created virtual sound device in System Preferences, and in Soundflower selected the aggregate device.

Not perfect, but works.

If someone has a smarter way, let me know!

Thanks!
