problem with iTunes?

So this has been going on for a few weeks now and whenever I'm playing music out loud through the speakers, some of the songs start pausing by itself at random times during the song and as it plays, the longer the pauses get. This never happened before when I got my laptop so I don't know why it's starting now. I never once touched the spacebar or clicked on the pause button and not all songs are effected. If there is a solution to this, am I able to get rid of the problem by myself or do I have to bring it in for them to check it out? Thanks.
