audio clarity is poor on bluetooth headsets with iphone 5

I have the Plantronics Voyager Legend and have updated to the latest firmware (Nov.2012). This firmware update was supposed to have fixed the audio distortion and quality issue. However, it has not improved on my headset. I have tried all of the troubleshooting suggestions: resetting network settings on the iPhone and reboothing, deleting the Legend from the iPhone and re pairing, Nothing has worked. Plantronics says that other bluetooth headset brands are also having similar issues. Has anyone found a resolution to the audio quality issue with bluetooth headsets?

Hi Lara - Yes..I updated to firmware version 44. I am also experiencing intermittent complete disconnects from the iphone. If I walk out of range and then come back into range of the iphone, the headset will not re-pair unless I turn the bluetooth off, and then back on. It is very frustrating! From all of the posts I read on Apple, it appears that the issue is with the bluetooth in the iPhone 5 and not the headset because other headset brands (I saw Motorola) are having issues too.

Got thee iPhone 5 yesterday. All is well. No intermitent disconnects.

Had a difficult time getting out of range; the iPhone 5 has a very far bluetooth range apparently! I walked almost one city block and was still connected. I had to go into the building stairwell which has lots of FiOS equipment which seems to block all signals. Then it disconnected, as expected.

Coming back, it automatically connected again. Pressing the call button makes it happen even sooner.

That is great. Perhaps it is the brand I am using. What brand and model Bluetooth headset were you using? I am having difficulties with the audio clarity using the Plantronics Voyager Legend. People hear me just fine, but I have trouble hearing them through the headset. The quality is poor - static and distorted voice coming through.
