Turn off the Auto Shrink Text in: Inspector > Text > deselect the Automatically Shrink Text
Turn off the Auto Shrink Text in: Inspector > Text > deselect the Automatically Shrink Text
Thanks Gary! I see the autoshrink text check box in the Inspector, but it is greyed out, and I can't click on it. Any other ideas?
atext box has to be selected to enable the option
I tried selecting the text box, and selecting just the text, and neither way made the option enabled...
read page 53 of the user manual and try these options
- Double-click the clipping indicator at the bottom of the text box.
- In the format bar, select the checkbox labeled “Auto-shrink.”
- Hold down the Control key while clicking the text box, and choose “Auto-shrink Text.”
- In the Text inspector, select the checkbox labeled Automatically Shrink Text.
I have exactly the same problem as brooklynhcdesign (latest Keynote version), and I tried all that you listed, but the problem is that all these options cannot be selected -- they are either not available or greyed out. Curiously, the Auto-Shrink checkbox is NOT selected anywhere, but still Keynote shrinks the text in the texbox as it pleases.
Any ideas how to resolve this issue?
close Keynote and reset by deleting the preference file located here:
system > users > home > library > preferences; com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist
open Keynote after deleting
Thanks, I'll try it.
Thanks for the tip, but that did not solve the problem for me.
delete Keynote then empty the trash.
shut down Mac and start with the shift key pressed
This will run a maintenance check on the software, it will take a few minutes to complete, when completed reboot
reinstall Keynote from the original install file.
I have been encountering the same problem.
This work around has been effective for me:
- select all text in box
- in the inspector, select the font size you want
at this stage, the font was not increasing beyond that font size, however shrinking the text box would still decrease font size
- in the inspector, go to text tab, then layout button
deselect "shrink text to fit"
all that said, it would be nice to have this be a one-step operation
Double-clicking the square at the foot of the textbox no longer seems to work in K6.
Inspector > Text > Layout > deselect 'Shrink text to fit'
Yes thats what I suggested over three and a half years ago. Does it not work for you?
