Since I downloaded the Itunes 11.0.1.12 on my win-7 64 enterprise, I cannot access the itunes store, and I am not getting any updates from podcasters etc. Running the diagnostics says that: I now have a firewall restiriction vs itunes, which I do not. pls help

Is iTunes endlessly saying "Accessing iTunes Store"? Or is something a bit different going on?
thanks for your concern - it does not say anything - panel pops up but no action. when running the diagnosticts test - I get the msg Secure link to iTunes store failed - but it has verified the network, and the internet connection. iTunes then asks me if I want some help in defining the error - then it goes blank
when I complete the test I get the follwoing subset of info from iTunes
Connection attempt to Apple web site was unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out.
Basic connection to the store failed.
The network connection timed out.
Connection attempt to Gracenote server was successful.
The network connection timed out.
Last successful iTunes Store access was 2012-12-05 00:02:19
The last success I had to access the iTunes was when I (innocently) updated to a new iTunes version
