unable to send email from att.net using Mail

unable to send email from Mail from att.net account. able to send from gmail and hotmail accounts using Mail. usernames and passwords are correct. able to receive email from all accounts. when logged into att.net in safari, able to send emails from there. have been using Mail for my att.net account for almost 2 years without a problem; this happened suddenly. unsure why and would like help.
