My mate has just given me my his old Ipod touch that is on version 2.1.1 and when I go to update to 4.2 it comes up with error -1 and wont allow me to update or sync. Im running Windows 7 and just updated my Itunes

This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
When t says that the device may need service that mean you have a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Thanks mate I was able to solve the update error through a different forum, now it just comes up with a different error and isn't able to sync

just went back and tried again, the error didnt show up. Then i went in to the music section and it didnt have it selected, so I selected and clicked apply, now it's syncing fine. Thanks for all the help guys
