Apple Earphones Remote doesn't work on my MacBook Pro

When I first got my MacBook Pro (late 2010 model), I was able to use the remote of the Apple Earphones with my MacBook Pro. But, when I updated it later afterwards (from Snow Leopard's 10.6.8 - Currently Lion's 10.8.2), the remote is not responsive anymore when using it with the MacBook Pro. Even though the remote is not being clicked while inserting it, it is stil unresponsive. Anyone please help me? Thanks 🙂
