I can't activate my iPhone 3GS after updating OS

I'd tried to keep my unlocked iPhone 3GS up to date by updating its OS from version 4.1 to 6.1

After restart, I couldn't activate my iPhone to work. It always shows a message in iTune whether it could not find a server, or sync problem.

Is it because of my iPhone unlocked? what am I suppose to do? Please help my phone back to work.

iPhone 3GS, iOS 6.0.1, unlocked

Has your phone been officially unlocked by the carrier? If no, updating to a new iOS version will lock the phone again:

Unauthorized modification of iOS has been a major source of instability, disruption of services, and other issues


If it has been unlocked by your carrier, check this article:

iOS: Troubleshooting carrier activation issues


Also check your security software settings, to allow iTunes to contact Apple servers:

iTunes: Troubleshooting security software issues
