No idea what you're talking about. Perhaps you'd like to tell us what's actually wrong...
Ok,
both my mac and my iphone have an IPA of 192.168.1.7 they are both connecting to the wifi on the same frequency. that's a conflict that needs to be resolved and the mac let me know of the conflict. I thought that it would resolve itself because i thought it was set to automatic DNS.
I am not sure if I should "renew the lease"
thanks
You mean IP Address? That's a problem with your network. Reset your router.
did that twice...
Then you'll have to troubleshoot the problem on your network. This isn't a phone problem.
i thought that i could force the issue by renewing the lease....
but I was not sure if that might do anything bad.
It's not going to break anything.
will it help solve thew problem?
settings > wi-fi > select your network > DHCP
Under this Your iPhone and Mac shows the same IP address?
You could try by selecting static and changing the IP address to 192.168.1.8 or 192.168.1.xxx
I have no way of knowing since I don't control the configuration of your network. You have a network problem. Not an iPhone problem. Duplicate IP address assignments on your network are not within the scope of these forums.
Yes! that's what's so surprizing!
thanks Raje3v! I will try that.
Also would recommend restart your Mac and check whether the same IP is being assigned again.
If it does. Try restaring the iPhone.
FYI:
simpler sloution:
I restarted the computer when it hung over this problem just a few minutes ago. It forced the IPA to be re-issued.
I've bumped into thisproblem at this particular wifi location before and didn't think to restart the computer as i thought it was a network issue. I suppose restarting the phone would do the same thing!
thanks again
