Why won't my iPhone send pictures via email?

I'm trying to email a photo in the Photos section of the iPhone. This used to work, but now the email just disappears, even though it makes the "whoosh" sending sound. Emailing from the email app works fine as always.

iPhone 4, iOS 6.0.1

I was having this problem as well. I found the problem to be...

The email account I have on my phone is a Gmail account which i dont actually use that much.

In trying to assess what the problem was with sending pic, I went into my gmail on my phone and realized that the account would not activate because at some point I had changes my password.

I went into settings on my phone, into my email account and updated the password.

once the gmail account resolved on my phone I was able to send photos via email

Yes, I'm following the steps you said. But the email is sent right away, so no outbox is shown, just the "whoosh" sound. However, there is no trace of the email anywhere - it doesn't get sent.

Note I am able to send a regular email from my iPhone - only when I try to send one from the Photos does this fail. And I'm using WiFi (not cell phone service).

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?

Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPhone shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.

Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

I had the same problem and did the same things, I download this and that. I finally I cracked it for myself.

I had been email hacked a year ago so I added a two step verification on my gmail. The little gadgets(phone) are having issues cracking this, I find this reassuring!

There is a very simple way of following the instructions that are provided with gmail. I am not a techy person. You simply have to enter some password gmail gives you into your phone.

I hope this helps.

I have the same question but not just limited to the phone-app. I also can't email pdf's from the Pages-app or other documents from within an app. If I import the photos/ documents into Mail to send, then there's no problem at all but as soon as I'm trying to send anything from WITHIN APPS, I hear the whoosh-sound as if it's been sent but in fact nothing has been sent at all. This is a new thing, as it worked perfectly fine before, and has given me quite a bit of grief since people never received the items I thought I'd sent them.

Reset/ Restart doesn't do anything to solve the problem, neither has it anything to do with 2-step-verification. I'd be really grateful if someone knows the fix for this. Cheers
