"Open with" displays multiples of each program

"Open with" displays multiples of each program

My 2009 Intel iMac running OSX 10.8.2 keeps adding duplicate entries of programs in the "Open With" contextual sub-menu when opening files from within Finder (See screen grab below). It adds them only occasionally, but once it's added a duplicate, the duplicate doesn't go away. Some programs are listed as many as 4 times. It doesn't matter how frequently I use a given program; and by the way, I've checked - I only have one installation of each of these...

Anyone know how to fix this?

iMac (20-inch Early 2009), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), 8GB RAM

Hello, this should take care iof it...

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions...

Reset Launch Services...

The instructions at thexlab.com only address up to Snow Leopard. I'm on Mountain Lion. Do the Snow Leopard instructions still apply?

Nevermind - followed all the instructions up to the string, and then found this string on another post.

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.fram ework/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user

Seems to have worked so far.
