My MacBook Pro won't turn on. It's fully charged and acts like its starting. After a few seconds the screen just goes black. How can I fix this?

I am not sure what version. The date on the back of the computer is 2010.
My MacBook Pro won't turn on. When I press the power button, it acts like its going to start, I hear the sound and the apple screen comes up, but then the screen just goes black. The computer is fully charged. How do I fix this?
