Software instrument mutes after 13sec?

Following an online guide, I have set up PS3 guitar hero world tour drums as a software instrument in garageband on my macbook pro using MIDItar Hero. Everything works perfectly... for about 13 seconds, then it stops. If I pause the track and un pause it, it works for another 13 seconds. If I change to a different software drum kit, it briefly works again, if I change the audio driver, same deal. What am I missing?

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

After eliminating Miditar and Max runtime as the culpits I seem to have solved this issue by downgrading to Garageband 9 from my iLife 09 DVD. You will need to trash the version of Garageband 11 (or move it out of the Applications folder) before you can install this.

It looks like Apple have really screwed something up with Garageband 11 as there are quite a few people with Midi controllers reporting similar issues.

As always with Apple I wont hold my breath waiting for this to get sorted!
