    You also have "Total Finder" installed. It could be interfering just as Kapersky likely is.

     

    Why must you have Kapersky installed? Ignorant IT department or your own desires?

    Barney .... i have to use a lot of pendrives as part of what i do... so i do need something to scan the pen-drives before i use them....

     

    so it is neither an ignorant IT nor my own desires as you eloquently put it....but an actual need....

    But how and why is that, even with kaspersky installed, the context menu works for a newly created user?

    Something you've installed has corrupted something in your account. Hard to tell what it is. Both Kapersky and TotalFinder is modifying the contextual menu in an unusual way.
