When I try to sync my iphone 5 with itunes i get error a session could not be started with the iphone. Nothing happens after this message. HELP !

Are you syncing with some new computer that has never encountered this iPhone before?

Yes it is a new laptop and a new phone. I have authorised the laptop any suggestions please.

This troubleshooting article should help. I assume you have not tried to sync your iPhone with iTunes on any other computer previously.
