I downloaded video from itunes but cannot transfer to my ipod. Why?

I purchased a movie through itunes and it downloaded fine. I would like to transfer it to my ipod. Plenty of space (1/2 full) Ipod is synced, but movie will not transfer. Why? Ideas?
