Mobile Keys 25 (Line 6) doesn't work with iPad mini

Bought the Line 6 Mobile Keys 25. It works fine with my laptop; works fine with my iPhone 5; works fine with my iPad1; but it does not work with the iPad mini.

It shows up in settings (General/About) but doesn't seem to "connect" with Garageband app or with Line 6's Midi Memo app.

I have restarted the mini - tried everything I can think of. Spoke to Line 6 support and they thought it was a hardware problem and suggested i take it back. But then as mentioned above i tried it with other units and it was fine.

Anyone have the same issue? Suggestions?

BTW iPad mini is running 6.0.2

(Please excuse the cross-post, just wanted to make the info available in both of stevevaus' posts.)

Hope you don't mind me butting in, stevevaus – I'm the product manager at Line 6. We've tested with 6.0.2 and found no issues.

At this point I guess my questions would be:

(1) Are any other USB accessories (whether over Lightning or over 30-pin via adaptor) working with your iPad Mini? Any other USB MIDI accessories in particular?

(2) What are you using for the Lightning to 30-pin adaptor – is it one of the Apple branded ones (dongle or cable)?

Hi Chris - I spoke to Line 6 yesterday (Jon) and he was elevating to QA. Haven't heard anything back. I welcome your input.

I have not tried any other accessories with my mini.

Using an Apple cable. All the connectors I'm using have tested good with my iPhone5. We do have other minis in-house here, all running 6.0.2 - I'd be happy to test it with them.

Chris - have just tested it with another mini - it works, however, the other minis we have are all wifi only.

My main iPad mini I want to use it with is a wifi + cellular model.

Is the mini you tried it with a wifi+cellular. Can't help but wonder if that is the possible quirk.

I have now erased and restored my iPad mini. No change in operation

Mini still "sees" the Line 6 Mobile Keys 25 but does not work. I continue to suspect Line 6 needs to test their keyboard with the wifi/cell version of the iPad mini running 6.0.2 - that is the only wild card left in the deck.

Hm, we've verified it's working here under 6.0.2 on an additional Mini, which is wifi+cellular. Our customer service guys should be in contact wth you directly by now for further troubleshoting.

UPDATE - today I went to the Apple store to have them run a diagnostics test on my iPad mini. It checked out fine. They had another Line 6 Mobile Keys 25 in stock so I decided to buy it rather than wait for a replacement from Line 6.

Right out of the box it worked with my mini. NOTE - the brand new unit wanted to update it's firmware through the Line 6 MidiMemo app. I almost did then realized that update might well be the problem.

The non-working unit WAS updated to firmware 1.0.6 The new unti off the shelf was firmware 1.0.0

I won't be running the upgrade anytime soon until Line 6 sorts this out.

I will box up the problem unti and return it to Apple Store for a refund.

I have a Line 6 MobileKeys 25 that will not connect with my iPad air. The message is that it is not compatible with this device. Can you help?
