I'm sorry, but to use it, you have to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion or Lion. However, you can use iCloud mail without any problem

I tried to purchase the Mountain Lion from the App store but I reveived this error message "We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer." I belive this is because my MacBook is from 2008. Is there anything I can do?
OS X Mountain Lion requires an Early 2009 or Late 2008 Aluminum MacBook, so your computer isn't supported.
You can check if you can upgrade to OS X Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4949?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US If your Mac is supported, call Apple to purchase Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
Will that solve my iCal problem .. from what I have read iCloud does not start until Mountain Lion.
iCloud requires OS X 10.7.2 Lion or later. 10.7 belongs to OS X Lion
Thank you for your help. Maybe next Santa will bring me a new laptop 😉
You are welcome
There is an unsupported hack which has worked for some people, enabling them to sync their calendars in Snow Leopard, but there's no guarantee that it will work or that it will continue to work once inititiated. The method is described here:

Here's anothe site on how to get Contacts and Calendars on Snow Leopard:
sayzlim.net: Sync iCloud Contacts and Calendar on Snow Leopard
As they say "your milage may vary".
