why cant i listen to my audiobooks on my iphone5 if my computer is turned off?
i can only listen to audiobooks on my phone if itunes is turned on on my computer. If I am away from home I cant listen to anything in itunes

Sounds like you have not actually got the audiobooks on the phone. You are streaming them through Home Sharing or something. That would explain why you can't listen to them away from home. You need to sync them to the phone, or just download them straight to the phone.
