i have an iPhone 3GS 32GB and was having 4.0.1 and i had upgraded it to 6.0.1 and now after the update, the phone got locked. please help

What Error message are you getting...?
it shows sim not valid. "only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone"
This usually happens if the phone has been Hacked / Jailbroken / Modified...
