Can I sort my desktop?
Is there any way to sort the icons on the desktop. I have grouped several dozen icons which leaves big spaces on desktop. I'd like to rearrange the desktop alphabetically without losing my groups.

BTW unless I posted it in the wrong area I was talking about rearranging the icons on my iPad desktop not the computer desktop.
My apologies. Many people post in the wrong area so I tend to ignore that. "Desktop" implies a Mac Desktop, unless you are using the "Lanchpad". On the iPad it's a "Springboard". Don't ask me how Apple comes up with these names.
To rearrange your iPad icons, tap and hold any icon until it "shakes". Then you can drag them to rearrange in any order that you wish.
Tap the Home button when you are finished.
Sorry I didn't make it clear John. I knew about the method you last mentioned. I was looking for a way to do it as bulk and not oe by one.
The only other way is to group them into folders. There is no sorting app to my knowledge.
Apple calls it a Homescreen for most uses.
In any case, Going into Settings->General->Reset->Reset Home Screen Layout will place the built in Apple apps back to their original locations, and Alphabetize the rest of the App icons in one go.
It will unfortunately destroy all folders you may have created in the process.
