The AirPort Express can extend a wireless network...using wireless only.....when the network is produced by another Apple AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule or another AirPort Express.

In other words, you must always have at least two Apple routers to be able to extend a wireless network using wireless only.

Bummer. I have a fully apple system but advised a friend they could do the same using thier existing Belkin wireless. Seems she just wasted $100. oops
