When I open preview the desktop background becomes dark with the selected image. The dock is not visible unless I hover over where it is normally present. There is no menu bar. The only way I can get the desktop back to normal is command Q. Any ideas?

When I open Preview or click on a icon of a picture in the Finder window the desktop become dark. The picture is opened but there is no dock or menu bar to work with. The only way to get the desktop back to "normal" is to command Q. Any suggestions?

I found out what my problem was. I tried hovering over the menu bar area and the menu bar finally showed up. This allowed me to go to Preview's View where I could click on Cancel Full Screen. Somehow I must have tapped Command F to cause it to go to full screen. I use Command D a lot and must have hit the F instead of the D.
