Safari won't open in full screen

I had to erase my hard drive and reinstall OSX 10.8.2 on my MBA. Now after I quit Safari in Full Screen on my MBA it won't open again in full screen as it did before I erased and reinstalled OSX. My Mac Mini has always reopened Safari in Full Screen after I close it in Full Screen. All Safari preferences on my Mac Mini and MBA are the same.

Can someone offer a suggestion on how to automatically open Safari in Full Screen?

Thanks!

Mountain Lion is set up to close windows when you quit a program instead of saving them. To change this, put Safari in full-screen mode, move the cursor to the top, open Safari menu while holding Option key and close Safari from the menu.

If you want to do it automatically with all programmes, open System Preferences > General, and deactivate "Close windows when quitting an application"

Thank you very much for that tip about using the Option key when going to the Safari menu to close the application. I needed to remind myself to experiment with the Option key / explore all menus!

I'd like to update your comment a little; not sure if it relates only to El Capitan or in general:

"To change this, open a new blank page or tab in Safari, then put it in full-screen mode, move the cursor to the top, open Safari menu while holding Option key and close Safari from the menu."

If the user doesn't do it with an empty Safari window or tab, when they reopen Safari, not only will they get a full page on start but it will be the page or pages they had open when they closed Safari.
