Address book vs. iCal - something so basic, yet cant figure it out

HI All,

Can anyone tell me if there is a simple way to create an appointment in iCal with a contact from address book and have all the necessary info easily "dragged accross"? (such as name, location , contact details etc)

The only way I can get close, is to literally drag a contact over to the iCal window, creating an "scheduled meeting" but the problem then is, it seems I have to send the person an invitaion in order to save the event.

For example, when a client calls me, I would like to be able to create an event in iCal and simply add their details directly from address book...

Does this make sense?

It seems like it shoudl be a really simple and fundamental function of both apps, but I cant find a way to do it...

thanks in advance!!!!
