If I have iCloud - but don't have a me.com address?
Is it possible to get IMAP/CalDAV access to iCloud - if you don't have a who@me.com email address?
Since me.com is closed they hand out me@icloud.com ones instead

New @me.com addresses are no longer available. You can create a new iCloud account by signing in with your Apple ID in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud (Lion 10.7.2 or iOS5 minimum required). When you check 'Mail' in the checklist there you will be asked to create a new @icloud.com address. This will then set your Mail application up to access the account.
Perhaps I wasn't clear.
I do have a user@icloud.com - and I want to access that email address via IMAP, and the calendar via CalDav.
I do not have any Apple computers in my house, so I don't use the Mail.app (or what it is called), so no automatic settings from that.
The most thrilling part for me would be to be able to access the calendar from my PC, since you can't set events to just last one week, 7 days - and there's no copypasta of events.
(I work one week and have one week off sort of schedule)
You can set any email client up to access your iCloud email - the settings are listed here:

I've had no experience accessing iCloud from Windows but this article deals with using Outlook:

Still don't have a @me.com email address, that's what barfs that up.
Tried with the user@icloud.com one, but that didn't work 😟
Edit: I also use Linux, so Outlook isn't a viable option either.
You don't need an @me.com address and your @icloud.com address isn't your login. Your Apple ID will be a non-Apple email address (unless you were originally a MobileMe member, in which case you would have had an @me.com address) and that's what you should sign in with, just as you do here.
Well my @icloud.com is my Apple-ID.
I just got an iPhone 4s from my wife (well I got her "old" when she got a 5), and following the wizard I got a user@icloud.com Apple-ID.
I really like the icloud.com webinterface, but it'd be really nice to be able to sync stuff to other computers (and since I use neither windows or outlook that goes out the window).
Can you sign in with that ID at http://icloud.com ? If so, then you should be able to use it in Windows, but if you can't I'm afraid I can't advise on that - the best place to ask would be in the iCloud on my PC forum.
Thanks for you effort. 🙂
Got it working, let it be overnight and went back with a clear head. I don't know what I did different, but now it works!
(First thoght is SFK, **** in Front of Keyboard - ie. mis-spelled password or similar)
