Very odd.
I have installed Leopard on a G4. . A completely clean install.
Once done, I open the sound pref pane. . In the "input" tab there is nothing . . no built in mic or line in . .
Any idea's any one ?
There is a Hammerfall 9652 card installed, but I've not put the drivers yet.
Help appreciated. .

Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.
The properties for input in AM set up is greyed out. .
I have opened the machine up & the mic / line input looks ok .
I should maybe mention that the machine is in a Marathon rack unit. . .
If you either pull the card or Install the drivers for it, does that change anything?
I went through all that yesterday . .
I had installed the drivers before even looking at the audio I/O, the 9652 was the only available input. . . So I did a complete OS re install. . .
I didn't how ever try a PRAM reset or an SMC reset. .
I think that'll be my next action, but not until Monday. . .
I'll post the result. .
