What software do you use with Avery labels?

I just complained to Avery about their own software for using their own labels, and got told this:

"Please also note that Avery DesignPro for Mac has been removed from avery.con because it is already outdated and more Consumers are downloading templates for 3rd party software or using Avery Design & Print Online 7.0."

Do you have a suggestion for "templates for 3rd party software?"

Or even better: Is there another label manufacturer that delivers decent software for use with their product? I would not mind in the least letting go of Avery, now that they've abandoned Mac users.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), 3 years or so

Thanks for this. I went into Open Office help, saw one discussion of a problem someone had with Avery . . . and found out how to access OO's label formats.

Not as easy and convenient as having the software immediately available, but I guess that's what I'll do.

Thank you for this!

Now, can I find labels other than Avery . . . the quest continues! <g>

Cafox13,

There is a limited number of label software options that work with Mac. It is true that you can use the built-in templates with Microsoft Word, but that is pretty limiting. If you are looking for a viable alternative to the office supply store label brands, I recommend that you check out OnlineLabels.com (the company I work for). The label sheets are much less expensive than the office supply store and there are hundreds of size options (way more than office supply store). In addition, all orders come with activation for Maestro Label Designer software which is a web-based labeling software that works on Mac - http://www.onlinelabels.com/maestro. Just click on the link and launch the software. It is web-based so there is nothing to download. It is a lot easier than working with the Open Office label templates.

I use Avery Design Pro - free from Avery. The alignment is much better than with any templates I've found. Although it's only supposed to be compatible with OS X versions up to 10.6.x, it works just fine under Mountain Lion.

I used it to create my Christmas card mailing labels last month. I also use it for business cards, postcards, etc. Will import data, etc. Free isn't a bad price to pay.

I repeat, from my original message:

"Please also note that Avery DesignPro for Mac has been removed from avery.con because it is already outdated and more Consumers are downloading templates for 3rd party software or using Avery Design & Print Online 7.0."

Further, Avery DesignPro for Mac is about the clumsiest software I've ever used. The original PC software from Avery was just fine, but porting something different to the Mac really turned it to garbage.

I downloaded and tried templates from World Label (not surprisingly, http://www.worldlabel.com/), with Avery labels, and they were just fine. Easy to use, straightforward, not confusing, and they don't make you jump through hoops the way DesignPro did. I will shortly order some of their labels as well, as thanks!

KF1 - Yes, it is possibly to do ths. At the time that you start a new design, you will need to select the mode that says Multiple Label Designs on One Sheet. See Step 2 below. User uploaded file

We have a new version of Maestro Label Designer that we will be releasing in about 3 weeks that will make your requested functionality even easier to do. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks.

Bizarre. I needed software too. I went to avery, searched, found the mac software, downloaded, installed, ran and printed. Didn't have any problems whatsoever. (On 10.9.4).

Yes it's the UK site but even a simple google search found it as well.

Apparently there is a free iPad & iPhone (and Android) app too, have installed it but not tried it yet. My printer is wired but I use the excellent Printopia software from Ecamm which lets my iOS devices print to it.

I still use DesignPro - Avery have a new product - "Design&Print," a Java app, that I cannot get to do anything, however. I'm just glad that DesignPro is still a functional product.

EDIT: I should say that I'm not able to do a thing with the Design&Print software on a Mac - runs great under Windows...
