I hate having to switch to the dashboard everytime I want to see a widget. Is there some way to select one and have it always appear on another desktop or all desktops?

Thank you, the articles were helpful. I followed the steps, putting the commands in terminal, then I went to the dashboard and clicked (and hold) on my widget and started to move it... and it dissappeared. I can't find a sign of it anywhere!
Any thoughts?
Okay, I found I could relaunch the widget and I got it to move to the desktop as I'd hoped!
