I have a 24 inch Early 2008 iMac. According to this kb article (HT1423) this machine is maxed at 4GB total RAM. Is that really the case? I want to run VMWare Fusion and it slows things down

I have a 24 inch Early 2008 iMac. According to this kb article (HT1423) this machine is maxed at 4GB total RAM. Is that really the case? I want to run VMWare Fusion (allows use of windows programs) and it slows things down quite a bit
