An archive and install should not delete anything. But of course without a backup, if anything does go wrong and you do loose anything or everything, it will be gone for good.
It is never wise to do any system install/reinstall without a backup - you are just begging for problems.
If I reinstall the osx disk (archive and install) without make any backup... Do I lose all my data???
