HT1198: iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users - working with time machine

Hi,

I followed the instructions and created a disk image to host the shared iphoto library. In general all seems well regarding user access, but I am finding that even the smallest changes in the library seems to cause time machine to create huge backups close to the size of the disk image itself. Is this usual or have I done something wrong.

Thanks for any help.

I had exactly the same problem when I put my iPhoto Library inside a sparse disk image, as recommended in article HT1198: Time Machine would back up the entire sparse disk image, every time. This backup problem disappeared when I instead put the iPhoto Library inside a sparse bundle disk image (one of the image format options in Disk Utility). For more information, read the Disk Image box at the bottom of this web page: http://pondini.org/TM/D8.html.
