iMac G4 screen replacement

Hi. I have an old iMac G4 17". Is there any way I can replace the iMac G4 screen with a LG or Samsung monitor for use with my new computer? I still want to have the design and flexibility of the regular iMac G4, just with a monitor instead of the screen. I don't suppose there is any type of VESA Mount that would help with this? Additionally, if this is not possible, is there any way I can use the iMac G4 as an external monitor for my MacBook Pro? I don't mean something wirelessly like ScreenRecycler I would prefer a wired connection for non-lag. Thanks.
