iMessage not working

I have the iPod touch 4g and the iMessage isn't working. Whenever I go on it it freezes and it won't let me send or receive texts. I think this might be because of a group conversation I am in with like five people in it and it gets kind of spammy. I have tried turning off the wifi, truning off iMessage, turning off my iPod, and restarting my iPod. It has been a few days since this started happening. PLEASE HELP! 😢

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
