Updating iPod software - a little frustrated

I am a bit annoyed by the iPod software update process. It is meant to be simple and straightforward yet it seems confusing and without any guidance.

1. I connect my Ipod Mini.
2. I download the latest iPod Updater software.
3. I install the the software on my harddrive.

Then what?
Where is it?

My iPod is not updated. The "Updater" is not in Applications, where is it?

Hey, Apple its just so simple! Apparently not simple enough for me.

Somebody please help.

May I ask you some questions

1. Are you using iPod Shuffle or iPod Mini
2. Are your using PC or Mac - seems that your are on a Mac right
3. The iPod updater for a Mac, should be under the utility, a sub directory for application
4. Open the iPod Updater, and plug your iPod again with your Mac

Chris,

I found mine in APPLICATIONS->UTILITIES ->iPod Software Updater-> "iPod Updater 2006-03-23"

Yes, it didn't work the way I expected it to, but that is where I found it. Running it is straight forward.

Try reading your User's Manual, for starters. The one for the Shuffle has directions for updating and restoring its software, so I'd bet that the Mini's guide would have that same info.

If that's not convenient, go to the iPod Mini Support Page ( http://www.apple.com/support/ipodmini/ ) and look for help there. The article you'll be looking for is the one entitled "I'm having trouble updating my .....etc.".
