Latest Itunes does not recognise Ipod nano. It appears on desktop, but not in Itunes. Tried to reformat, etc, still no luck. I went through many Apple forums, but found no solution. Any ideas please?

I had the same problem, finally re-installed iTunes and my iPod now appears in iTunes. However, when I tried to transfer some podcasts and books I got the message that the material could not be played on that iPod (6th generation).
Not all podcasts and book available in iTunes are compatible with ipod. Cheers!
It was fine until a few days ago when I updated iTunes. All my books and podcasts were not a problem. Now I have very very little to listen to on iPod.

Nothing happens... I went through all the possible options that I found on the Internet. When I plug my Ipod into my Mac it shows the Ipod icon on the desktop, and Itunes also opens, but Itunes does NOT show the Ipod there.
