iMessage trouble

I just got a new iPod for Christmas and I plugged it into my nanas computer to get all of her songs and apps. When I had iMessage on I would get all of her messages from her iPhone. So I turned it off on iCloud. I just went and signed in with my Apple Id and her messages just showed up again. Us there a way for this not to happen? Please and thank you
